What type of protective coating do i need?

 


Protective coatings are a vital part of industrial and commercial operations, protecting materials from corrosion, UV radiation, abrasion, chemical attack and other environmental factors. Polyurea is one of the most recent advances in protective coating technology, delivering superior performance over traditional polyurethane coatings. Traditional Protective Coatings

Polyurea Coatings

More recently however there has been an increased interest in one particular type of protective coating: polyurea (PUA). PUA is a single-component system made up of two components; an amine hardener and an aliphatic diisocyanate liquid resin blended together into one product. This combination creates a highly resistant material with superior chemical resistance compared to other traditional protective coatings such as epoxy and PU due to its high crosslinking density which binds together tightly even when subjected to extreme temperatures or harsh conditions such as saltwater immersion or chemical exposure. One main advantage that PUA has compared to traditional systems like epoxy and PU is its cure time; while traditional systems can take days to fully cure at room temperature PUA cures within seconds when heated up so it can be applied much faster making it more cost effective too!


PUA offers numerous advantages over traditional systems including superior adhesion even in wet conditions; extremely low water absorption rate; heat resistance up to 200°C; good mechanical properties; excellent chemical resistance; electrical insulation properties; flexibility allowing for easier application on contoured surfaces; fast curing times; easy application with no need for specialised equipment such as spray guns etc.; no VOCs (volatile organic compounds) so safe for indoor applications; low shrinkage at cure meaning less sanding required during the finishing process etc.. The list goes on! All these benefits mean that PUA has become increasingly popular amongst industries ranging from construction right through to military defence forces who require durable protection from harsh elements but also need flexibility when dealing with surfaces that may move due to vibration or shock exposure during operation.
